We have been camping for many many years. We have progressed from tent to pop up to travel trailer. One of the things that has not changed much is our cooking outdoors. We cook over an open fire using pie irons and now we cook in Dutch Ovens frequently. I have been using charcoal rather than wood coals because of the more consistent heat. Also there are parts of the country where you cannot burn wood. Any meal cooked outdoors is worth whatever work you have to do. Enjoy your camping and be sure to cook outdoor when you can.
Yeah, nothing like outdoor cooking, one of my fave's is the hobo pockets, I make them at home all the time in the summer time. My grandkids love the suprise's they find inside the packets, always different every time! We are going to start camping again soon, ready to retire and hit the road this fall...
