We do a lot of weekend trips. We try to leave on Friday evenings and return on Sunday and in some cases we have to return Saturday nite. It very easy to do the weekends especially if you keep your RV stocked therefore preparation is zip. In most cases if you do a little research you'll plenty of places to go for a weekend. We live only 45 minutes from the Smoky Mountain area and lots of choices on where to go.
I would love to know some of your destinations. We live about 30 minutes West of Knoxville. If you like family style on the lake. Not for big rigs as much as for TT and 5th wheels, you might want to try out Hornsby Hollow.
Bluewater Campground in Dayton TN is a good place on the lake. The campground is 5 minutes from downtown Dayton. They do not have a lot of spaces but you are only 100 foot from the lake and fishing is excellent. It is usually booked up during the months of April and May due to the hot fishing during these months.
I have to agree. If your camper is stocked and ready, all you have to do is go. There are all kind of places just to "get away" and not specifically to see any one thing or place. Just relax from the rigors of work with like-minded people.
I agree, if you keep your trailer pretty well stocked, it is easy to pack up and be on the road. I have a checklist that I use to get ready to go. I also have one for each of my 4 kids. They pack their own stuff (have been for years). If they forget something it is their problem. One time, my daughter forgot her swimsuit... last ime she did that. I love to camp and my husband is a spur of the moment kind of guy so I try to make camping as quick and easy as possible.
We usually camp from mid April until late October. The April and October camping will occasionally result in snowfall or at best cold weather. Thank goodness for a good furnace. We try to go out at least two weekends every month. Therefore the camper is always stocked and we do the laundry on Monday and then we are ready to go. In our state to use the state parks you have to reserve the campsite 90 days in advance. Therefore some planning is required to use the park system. However any campout is a good one and I always return relaxed.
