Hey Everyone.....Nice little park in Ruskin called EG Simmons Park....Nice, great bathhouses, lots of space to bike ride and walk. If you like fishing, this is a great spot...You can see downtown St.Pete and downtown Tampa from the beach area....not sure if I'd swim, but boating, kayaking, canoeing would be perfect....take bug spray as for the no-see-ums will carry you away. The county is in the middle of rennovating one side of the campground as we speak. I reccommend this park for a nice weekend getaway.............TERRELL

HELP!!!! lol ok so does anyone know how we can fix a bad bias on a new Kayak?? It's a ICELANDER Swifty 2 and oh boy does it want to go in a circle real fast!! It's bias to the right and a pain to paddle as all my time in the rear is taken up steering and trying to keep it straight...I've been told there is a steering paddle but it's fixed to the feet adjusters and I don't really want to be bothered having to steer as the thing should go straight anyway surely??? Hey any help would be good....thxs

I am new here and trying to figure out if we are suppose to start a new thread or just add to this one. I was planning on posting about Faver-Dykes State Park and the Princess Place Preserve (Flagler County Park). Thanks for your help!

FT. Clinch Addendum Forgot to comment on the "Willow Pond Nature Trail"....don't waste your time! 25 minute hike, the Magnolia Trail is 45 minutes. Very buggy even with spray. It goes around an old borrow pit which now has very scummy water in it. There were signs warning of gators but I didn't see or hear any. Plenty of spiders, Indy Jones would love it! There are some other bike/hike trails in the Park that I didn't try, they may be wonderful but this one isn't. I would recommend a walk on the beach instead!!!

Fort Clinch State Park Just got back from a 4 day outing @ Ft. Clinch. It was about a 2 1/2 hour drive from the Orlando area. About 30 minutes from I-95 Exit. Enroute stopped @ the Jax Sam's Club, exit 360 on I-95, Busch Blvd. It is right across the street from the Brewery (like nuclear energy, it can be used for good or bad!) Sam's has some cheaper gas & lunch before I headed to the park. There is a Wal-Mart Super store with gas in Yulee & a regular Wal-Mart in Fernandina Beach. The park is off of A1A after you go thru the town of Fernandina Beach. Entrance is on the left before you get to the beach, look for the cannon! Entry road, Ft. Clinch rd is really pretty, tree lined/covered for 3 miles up to the River campground. It would be a great place to jog, bike, or roller blade. The road to the Beach campground is not as wonderful. Just past the Ranger Station on the left is the lookout for the Amelia Light House. You cannot really see this well from A1A so this is the place to do it! If you want to take pix, do it in the morning otherwise you will be looking into the sun. The Beach Camp ground is just past the dunes, it is not right on the beach, however this is the one you want to stay @ if you like walking on the beach. No shade, no tents, the ground is very hard, I bent a tent peg trying to secure my ground mat! Lots of wind, bugs & ants! Bath house is spartan to primitive!! There are 21 sites. Small lots & zero privacy! No swimming here, current in the Cumberland Sound is bad! The shipping channel is close to the beach here I saw a UK sub & a US Boomer enroute to Kings Bay Naval Base! I also so the wild horses on Cumberland island thru my binocks. Saw remains of sharks & rays on the beach. The River campground has shade, but I think the numerous trees could be a problem for Class A & 5th Wheel campers @ some of the sites. Some of these sites are very small as in tents only.... I talked to a camper who claimed that this bath house was wonderfully refurbushed. There are about 40 sites @ this campground. No swimming @ this campground either, same reason. There is a small wooden platform to fish off @ high tide on the Amelia River near this campground. There is a Fishing Pier (closed due to being totally broken), a bird viewing area which is pretty well done & separate swim area on the Atlantic which is on the road to the Beach campground. The admission to the Fort itself is an extra $2.00 Hours are 9-4ish, there is also a museum & small gift shop/store there that sells firewood & a few other essentials. There are 2 not well marked fishing areas on either side of the Fort where you can drive down closer to the beach to park. You can shoot pix of the outside of the Fort from here & get a pretty good look @ Cumberland Island & all the boat traffic coming out of Fernandina Beach.
