I am thinking of buying a Class B motorhome.
Is a diesel engine better (better on mileage and longer lasting engine) ?
I am planning on travelling in summer to the mountain states, and want to know if I would go crazy with such a little unit?
I have a dog too.
Can I make friends on a trip?? Is it safe to travel alone, being a woman?
Thanks, Pat

Good Morning Pat
I use to travel in a class B all the time and loved it.....At that time I traveled with kids but they were outside more than in and we were on the go all the time so space wasn't a problem. We generally traveled for 30 days at a time. For one person I don't think space would be a problem.

I will be traveling with two dogs and mine are use to running around the yard so to avoid a feeling of confinement for them I think I'll get one of those enclosed screen porches for when I'm parked any length of time.

A class B plus would give you a little more room and would be almost as easy to utilize as a B. My main concern is usablitiy and simplicilty. I don't want slide outs, etc because I don't want any more maintainence than necessary and gizmos of any kind tend to create that.

Altho I've never had a diesel engine I've always been told that it is a longer lasting, higher preforming engine. I don't know about the milage.

I too will be interesting in hearing what people say about safety. Like anything else I'm sure discreation and precaution will have a lot to do with our safety

Altho I haven't looked into it as yet, I understand that they are caravans of people who travel together and look out after each other.....so I suspect that making friends will come easily.

Amazing how many people and conversations a nice dog can perpetuate.

And don't forget... a couple of lawn chairs out in front of your RV provides another room for you in a matter of moments.

I think you will have great fun....go for it and enjoy.

One of the things that I looked for when we were looking at various RV's is the gas cooktop. Most were three burner type, with one burner that was adjustable and the other two were either off or on. I looked for and RV that bothered to spend the extra money to install a cooktop that had all three burners adjustable. The way I figure it, if they skimped on that I wonder what they skimped on that I couldn't see. You would be surprised at the Salespeople, some selling for over 10 years, that had never noticed that. If you are going to go full time and plan on doing any cooking, you might want to make sure you have that feature.
