- The tires are about to meet the road. We are a married couple of 37 years in our mid fifties Brett and Susie (empty nesters). My wife is in education, I have had a variety of careers mostly dealing with construction. Susie can retire at anytime now. It's always been our desire to travel after Susie's retirement. So we're in a process of putting all wheels in motion to do just that. Cleaning out all the junk we've accumulated throughout our lives. Fixing up the house and placing it for sale. Slowly packing and prepping our RV as our new home on wheels. Hope to hit the road soon.

WALT FLORENCE said… we are retirement age, but we both still work full time jobs. we still have a mortgage so our expenses are still very high. that being said, we want to start with weekends and week long vacations and limit our travels to state parks or RV parks. i think we will start with a RV we can tow behind our pick up. camping to us would include all the comforts of home, coming with us on the road, with our two Schnauzers. we don't want to be cold or uncomfortable so we will look at something with a lot of amenities. we don't smoke and are allergic to cats so we will probably look at new as opposed to used. picky aren't we. oh well, we feel we have paid our dues and will at least be comfortable on the rest of our journey.
