Family Vacation

Pat & I are looking for a place to take our daughter and 3 grandchildren for spring break. We would prefer a warm climate (Indiana with its snow and cold is really getting to be a drag), and that contains an area which would the young grandkids chances to see and do things that they normally would not. We would prefer something that is not too pricey.

If anyone has suggestion, I would appreciate it.

Pat and I are proud parents of 2 children and 3 grand kids. I am retired but have not talked my wife into it yet. Love to travel or just go to our local campground on weekends.

Come on down to North Carolina.. at the beach there is lots to do for free ! In Beaufort there is a Martime Museum which is free.. and a quaint little town to explore.. enjoy lunch on the water front! A few miles down the road is FORT MACON .(through Morrehead CIty to Atlantic Beach area).which is open to the public for free.. and a neat place to explore..at Atlantic beach they have water slides ( if it's warm enough) go cart rides.. and The newly upgrated Aquarium. It does cost but is worth the money to see all the things there! ( I think it's called Pine Knoll shores Aquarium) Lots to do on the Island.. then go back off the island to the little town of Swanboro.. nice little shopes to explore and a wonderful place to eat that takes you back into the 50's sock hop style.. like something out of the TV show Happy days! On day the road is Hammocks Beach State Park .. You take a Ferry ride ( pontoon boat) and go over to Bear Island..to the beach! Wonderful ride.. even if you turn around and come back the next ride back! I think it now cost.. although it use to be free.. It isn't much..Going on down Highway 24 you will come to Camp Lejeune home of the United States Marines.. It's neat if you can get a pas.. to drive around the base.. the kids would love seeing the military things.. on down 24 is the Beruit Memorial and another made from steel from the Worlds Trade Center. On down 17 toward WIlmington is New RIver Air Station.. grab a base pass and go aboard..and you will see the Heilcopters.. right in the front gate are three Helicopters you can actually stop and look at.. on down 17 you can go to Wilmington where the USS North Carolina Battle ship is docked and go aboard.. ( it cost, but is worth it too!) The waterfront downtown is a delite to walk around.. don't miss the Cotton Exchange..lots of really cool shops! I am sure if you google any of these towns..you can look up more things to do.. the weather will be beautiful! Another place to visit is the Town of New Bern.. There is a place called Tryon Palace.. Wonderful to tour! About an hour from jacksonville. If you want to know more.. just email me! Hope it helped!

We have been camping for about 8 years now. Most of our time is on weekends at a campground that is about an hour from our home. We have made numerous trips to Florida and the Smokey Mountains, with a trip to N. Carolina last year. We are on our 3rd motorhome going from a 30' to a 32' and now a 36". I am retired but my wife still works part time. We also enjoy the family and friends that join us.
