Hi Cindy,
I see you've just joined, welcome! I think you'll like this site as there is a lot of helpful information. How'd you find the site? I see you're from NY, we live in Albuquerque, NM so we're able to get to the great outdoors often.

Hi Cindy, I am sorry it has taken thisong to get back to you. We haven't worked in a lot of places because we keep going back to the first place we workamped, N.E. Georgia. We made some really special friends there and they have really, really great amenities. The firsttime there we worked only for site and usage of all amenities. The last time I worked for site but Gary was paid for all hours worked. The best way to get into workamping is by visiting the workamper.com web site and subscribing to workamper News. The send you a bi montly magazine with job availables all over the U.S.If you become a workamper plus subscriber you will get an email with the most recent jobs advertized. It cost a little bit more but that is where we found our first job. Also be sure to take advantage of the awesome resume builder on the site. When you see a job your are interested in you can jusy easily send them you resume. If youdo sign up for workamper or workamper news please use our wk member number 120417. We are Workamper Ambassadors and recieve extensions on our subscription when we recruit a new subscriber. We are really enjoying our life style as we have the freedom to move from place to place. It helps as we apparently raised a gypsy. Our son moves around quiet often and takes our grandson with him. Currently we are in Southwest Texas anticipating the arrival of a grandaughteriin about 6 weeks. We found a place to work within about 2 miles from our son and his family. We are able to help out with the grandsonand the very pregnant daughter-in-law. It is REALLY HOT. and I am wishing I were back in Northeast Georgia as it ismuch cooler therebut we are sticking it out and hopefullywill be going back to Georgia in August. If you have any questions I will happily talkto you on the telephone. You can call me at 6019175077.GOOD LUCK with you workamping adventure. Have fun.

Hi Cindy,
I don't camp full time, but would love to. I couldn't think of anything better than visiting all the different state and national parks and have the time to appreciate each one. I figure my camper is a good size. It's easy to drive and back up and not too bad on gas. That's a big plus.

Hey Cindy,
Nice to connect with a fellow New Yorker. I'm not sure where in the state you live, but we are up in the tundra area, just off the southeast corner of Lake Ontario. After winters averaging 200 inches of snow, we treasure our summers. We normally spend most of our summer in the camper (even if it's just in our driveway, since we "move in" as soon as school is out.) We tend to camp locally because then my husband can commute to work from camp. He's an attorney and so those days when he doesn't have court, he can hang with the girls and me and we always have dinner and our evenings together. We fell in love with East Coast Resort in Parish, NY and jumped at the chance for a membership when we found it advertised in the paper at a great price. It's a 2 week in and one out place and we are there every week possible. We also have some wonderful state parks nearby, as well as a slew of them in the Adirondacks. Prime sites go very quickly when they become available, so that is their only drawback. My favorite primitive campground has to be Cranberry Lake. We don't travel too far and aren't gone too long, so that's about all I can share with you. I hope it helps. Let me know if you want to give a membership campground a try. I know full timers love the opportunity to travel, stay at nice campgrounds and have it not cost too much.

Hi, sorry I just got your note. I need to go in and change my settings so I get notices when I get messages and comments. I just recently started things like this group and am learning how it works.

I don't have an RV and probably won't be able to afford one for a long time. I have a Safari van that I'm planning on using for a semi-RV but I'll have to wait a bit for any kind of trailer. I'm afraid I'll probably have to just be a weekend traveler anyway because with the economy like it is I won't be able to afford to retire for real. Tomorrow is my last day at the job I've had for the last 14 years - I'm "retiring" and going to work elsewhere full time where I'll be provided with a van to drive, which will reduce my expenses a lot.

Let me know if you get your condo sold and what you start doing.
