We are looking for an RV Park/Resort on the west coast of Florida. Something well maintained, clean, safe and with friendly, responsible staff. Golf is not required. A nice clubhouse with activities and a heated pool would be nice. Any suggestions?

June 4th – Crazy Horse. Off bright and early to Crazy Horse because this weekend there is a special event—the Volksmarch. Just once a year, Crazy Horse memorial opens up to the Volksmarch and allows visitors to walk up onto this giant sculptor- specifically Crazy Horse’s arm. So here we are along with thousands (as many as 15,000 have participated) hiking the 6.2 round trip trail to Crazy Horse’s arm. Just imaging thousands of people of all nationalities, ages, and appearances…

June 2nd – Mt Rushmore. Finally we get to see Mt Rushmore- can’t believe it. Took Iron Mountain Road from south to north and what views! There are three small (no RV’s thru these babies) tunnels blasted through rock with large signs stating “honk horn when approaching”. Let me say they mean – honk the horn!! These are single lane tunnels with significant curves at both ends—so no way could you see if anyone was coming before you enter the tunnel. Better yet- imagine seeing Mt…

June 1st – Harney Peak hike. As if yesterday’s hike wasn’t enough, we decide to do the Harney Peak hike. Some background: 3.2 miles to the highest point in SD and per the brochure the highest point east of the Rocky Mountain Range. The brochure also says it is difficult with a strong ascent, especially the last mile. Again with the definitions- this means that for 2.2 miles you walk uphill at 45 degrees- breathing like a freight train then you have the pleasure of walking 1…

May 31st – Lover’s Leap – makes you wonder about today’s plans??? Noel wants to do a hike so off we go to what the hiking book says is a beautiful hike. Okay- the good parts of the hike—awesome views almost the entire way, I was so busy looking all around that I developed stump toe (think about it—all those tree roots and me not paying any attention.) Then at the top- here is a giant rock face you can scramble up and look down onto this picturesque valley- so serene and…

May 30th – Cloudy with slight chance of rain but everything is soooo muddy—so decided let’s go visit a few inside places on our list. So off to Hot Springs SD to the Mammoth Site- there are 58 ½ (don’t ask me) mammoth remains- some wooly mammoths and others a larger mammoth breed (yea- there really were mammoths bigger than the wooly guy.) Fascinating- they’ve been excavating here for decades and they say it’ll take another 20-30 years. All these mammoths went into a spring…

May 29th- Enough rain already!! Another day of all day rain- I’m going stir crazy—please save me!! It’s so bad that I spent the morning cleaning—that tells you just how desperate I was for something to do—cleaning UGH!!! By 1:00 both Noel and I just had to do something – so out through the rain we dashed and headed to Rapid City to see Prairie Edge Trading Company. WOW what a place-- thousands of native Indian crafts and art work—items from a few dollars to $55,000 – yes that’s right…

May 28th – please shoot me – we’ve got to go buy groceries – no milk, bread, eggs, water, potatoes, fruit—you get the picture—so &^%$%^&*&* - off to Rapid City for groceries (nothing closer.) Alright so I survived grocery shopping and we’ve put everything up (and wasted a half day – sorry can’t help myself.) Okay can we please now go have some fun—please. Hooray – off to Custer State Park to check out the visitor center- want all sorts of information on the trails,…

A friend and his friend drove 2 RV's to Alaska to deliver them there. They had get to the factory, buy gas and pay for some extra days, and of course fly back home. But it was a great opportunity.
Does anyone know how I might learn more about doing this - anywhere in the US.

We usually can't wait to get out of this populous state when we go on our longer RV trips . However, I have to admit, the weather really is hard to beat. Along the coast from the San Francisco Bay Area to San Diego, we have only had one day of rain since January 4th and it is now almost the middle of February. OK, no rain is one thing but it has also been unbelievably warm and sunny. Most days the temperature varies between 60 and 70 degrees. Our current renters came from Sedona, Arizona.…
