We have just arrived with in the hour to Torrey in Utah, it's at Capital Reef National Park....thankfully this camp site has Internet..if not Cable...but at least there is about 6/7 terestial TV channels so we have news....the trip over was just terrific with awesome sceanery the last 30 miles or so...hopefully we will have time to go on one of the hikes through Capital reef that we noticed on the way through....
Ok so the light and sound show last Thursday....hmm dinner was good, the jet boat trip up the Colorado, slow but interesting with our guide pointing out interesting facts on the way....the light show was well hmmm cheap but still worth seeing....just a very relaxing night out....of which we seem to have very few after tiring our selves out on these mountain hikes....(but hey I get tp play on my new Playstation 2 and the Grand Turismo 4 game that I had overnighted from Walmart New York to Moab Utah...he he...wow what a darn game....) (great fun)
Friday of last week to keep you up to date we drove to the National park of Canyon lands, yes another great park, we ended up hiking through as much as we could...the heat was over 100 again so we suffered to get you pics (thats when I have time to upload) Saturday we did a drive through the La Sal Mountaim range, which included an area that a bunch of western and other films were made, Castle Valley...yes the John Wayne stuff...again the scenic views were awesome including the one where I have a wild horse trying to lick Roses face whilst she is still sitting in the truck....(so good)
Sunday we had a trip to Dead horse canyon...the story of this fabulous State park is that at the end of a pointed plato is where some cowboys hearded a bunch of Wild Horses through what they call "the neck" a 30 ft narrow strip of land to the plateau.....now this Plateau is about maybe 15.000 above the rest of the canyons so after they blocked the "neck" with a fence there was no way out....so they then picked out the horses they wanted and left for a beer at the local bar...(my guess)(about 40 miles away)(Moab) now when they returned some time later found all the horses had died of thirst...the ironic thing about this is that the colorado river was at the bottom of the cliffs in eyesight but could of been 2.000 miles as far as the dead horses were concerned....so there you have it...Dead Horse Canyon...
Regardless a very awesome scenic Park...
And there you have it up to date with everything....we are here for 5 nights only as this was really just a planned stop over for the trip between Moab and Bryce Canyon....but there looks to be enough around to keep us both busy, we are talking about maybe renting a jeep to do some more off roading but I need to enquire as maybe I can use the Trailblazer...
Right now it is 4.50 pm...Rose is cooking....yes you lot "Cooking" I drive she cooks...no really actually she has done some meals to be proud of during the trip so far....so we are fine..the coach is fine...I just need to upload and re size about 200 pictures...
Ok let you know next time what we find to do here at Torrey.....
