Ok Wednesday..July 3Oth....It's 5.50pm and we arrived back from todays adventure about an hour ago....we did what they call the The Hells Backbone...was really looking forward to being adrenalin flushed on this 64 mile Mountain ridge trail that was advertised as the most dramatic drive combinating in crossing a world engineering marvel in the way of a bridge crossing from one mountain ridge to another....yes well...ok so the drive was full of the usual awesome scenic views including some of the Escalante Grand Staircase park...that is over a million acres in size...I guess we are getting Blaisë about things we are doing and viewing now....he he as we were both expecting a little more excitment...wild life was 2 deer and a Marmot...at least yesterday (later) we watched as a mother deer cross the road with a Fawn in tow......
Um what else...thats about it...the actual trail was about 60 miles down the same road we are taking the coach on Saturday to our next RV park..so at least on the way back I noted what fun we (I'm) going to have driving the coach on this road...Utah Highway 12, from Torrey to Bryce Canyon, it's very steep in parts, full of zig zags (switchbacks) and at one point are driving over a hogs back with the road edge only inches away on both sides, with a sheer brain freezing drop each side....(right now Rose is busy trying to find another route)
Yesterday Tuesday...we found a trail to an arch called Natural Bridge, the trail called Hickman Trail after the guy that lived there at one time....great trail...zig zaging up a steep rocky trail that after a 2 mile sweat pouring hike at about 95 degrees...we came across the Arch and what a fantastic arch too...worth the hard work to get there...Just along the road from there in sight was a huge dome shaped rock formation called the Capital Dome...after the Capital Building...we could not really see why it was called this but, maybe the years of errosion had changed the shape a little...(or maybe someone in Marketing was offered retirement unless he/she could see the shape themselves)..anyway nearby was a loop mountain trail about 60 miles around...called The Cathedral Canyon Loop...this turned out to be a really wonderful day...hopefully the pics will come out and when I get the Arches pics uploaded to this site then I'll get those up too...but the trail was gruesome on the truck, 4x4ing Low just about all the way to the end....we did a few side trail hikes to overlooks which just furthered the enjoyment of this trail...the last canyon being it's brand name was about the most magnificent Cathedral like coloms of Sandstone we have seen...they were plum in the middle of a huge canyon and we were on the edge of a parrapit over view....looking down in ore....well I need to finish this real quick it's dinner time......yesterday was unreal...the sand colors on mountain formations where truely beautiful..the grey/blue colored dried up river beds that we followed for miles and miles...that where at one time full of fast flowing waters...awesome day awesome
