I would be interested in hearing from anyone on the steps that should be taken to prepare your RV plumbing system for the camping season. I had this explained to me; but that was months ago. Looking for a step by step process.

The system can be filled up with water and flushed out for approx. 15 min. or until the color has disappeared.A small amount of baking soda (2-3 tablespoons) can be added to the water system to take out any odor or taste that has developed over the winter storage. your water system will then be ready for a new season of camping.I hope this will help.Have a great day and happy camping.:^)

I normally hook up the city water connection and run all the faucets until they run clear. I then let the toleit run until it's clear, then the shower and the outside shower. Then I put about 10 gallons into the water tank and run the kitchen sink using the pump until it runs clear. I then turn off the hot water tank bypass and let the hot water tank fill and then run the hot water in the sinks and tub until it's clear. After that I drain the tank, hot water heater including pulling the low point drains until the system is empty. I think close all the drains and put a 1/2 cup of bleach into my water storage tank and then fill it with water and let the sinks and tub run until I can smell the bleach. I then let it sit for 4 hours, go have lunch or do some other start up choir. After the 4 hours has passed I drain the water tank and then hook up the city water and flush out the water lines with clean water. After that I fill and fire the hot water tank to make sure it's working. After all that and it's does not take that long it just sounds like a lot, I'm good for the season.

Please explain how the hot water tank bypass works. In the first step the bypass is on? When you are using the hotwater tank is the bypass on or off?

I think the best way, before you open the valve to put your water heater,
back in the system is this. Fill your tank, with one cup of bleach, per 10
gallons of water, drive around some, to let it slosh around, and mix, then
pump a good bit of it through the lines, getting all of the antifreeze out,
and you can smell bleach good. Do this to each valve, and toilet
Next step is to drain the tank, and all lines, (just like you did when
you winterized. Refill the tank, drive around, to slosh, turn on
each valve again, to pump the bleach out, till you can no longer
smell bleach. Again, drain the tank, and lines. Once again,
refill, and now put your water heater back in the system, and
this is all, to sanitize your water system
It seems like a lot of water, but it is the way, that two
different RV places told me. Hope this helps.
