Oh Lincoln, NE what a strange place and lovely place. We started our afternoon at the Sunken Gardens. Nestled in the center of Lincoln, you would never expect that kind of beauty to be hidden in the city. Goldfish ponds, bronze statues, and gorgeous flowers that would never survive in my garden flourish here. It’s free with donations welcomed so that made it even more enjoyable. The gal who works there said that spring is the most beautiful time, and I believe her. If I can figure out how to upload the photos from my camera, I will post them.
Jim has a special place in his heart for old cemeteries, and he had been interested in going to WYUKA Cemetery while we are in Lincoln. Well, I can see why after being there. WYUKA is a nationally recognized historic cemetery and the largest all-faith cemetery in the Lincoln community. It is filled with statuary art and spectacular paintings. Rolling hills and a beautiful pond also add to the quiet loveliness of what was called Lincolns first “park”. Not a bad place to buried if you ask me.
Well, tomorrow we will see more of Lincoln and then be on our way to our next stop which is Cheyenne, WY. I haven’t been to Wyoming in so long I am almost looking forward to it…
