Well we arrived last night in Elko, NV. There is still snow on the surrounding mountains and it does not feel at all like the desert Nevada you would expect. It is a country feel mountain town that has a relaxed setting and a busy underbelly. While we are here we are staying at the Iron Horse RV Resort. When we got here last night, it was pretty dark so we didn’t do much looking around. This morning I had a chance to do my walk around the resort and check everything out. It certainly isn’t as big as I had imagined, but it has a small community feeling. In speaking with some of our neighbors, I found they have a large portion of permanent residents. This is always a good sign! It means they maintain their park and take care of their guests- and I got a taste of that this morning.
We went into the office to fill out our paperwork and were met by a wonderful gal that was extremely helpful. She gave us some recommendations on places to eat, things to see, and informed us that while we are staying at the resort we have access to the pool, spa, and business center they have next door at the Hilton hotel. Even though they do have a smaller pool on location, I can tell you we are excited about the spa! After driving for a week, there isn’t anything that sounds better.
We plan on roaming around town for a bit this afternoon, and then we will certainly be heading to the spa later for some R&R. It looks like Elko is going to be a pleasant surprise…
