We WERE going to retire this year, sell the house, move to Beech Mountain, NC, and buy an RV, BUT our 24 year old son asked to move home and go to law school, and the 21 year old son came home with his girlfriend and they both started computer school. In three years our plans will materialize. We are still young, but Mart has rheumatoid arthritis, and this kind of throws a stick in the wheels of freedom.

Pop-Up Camper is a Bug Magnet

The old pop-up sits in the back yard gathering bug droppings, ugh. Oldest son decides we must clean it up for him to use for cheap getaways while he is in law school. We pop it open and vacuum up the bug poo and wonder where the icky creatures have run off to as we continue the sanitation process. We found one small roach and there is no way on earth that little bug could have created all that excrement! Mart heard that one should sprinkle bug repellant around the tires of campers, and we will t… Continue

Winter Garden, Florida RV Stores

Our son Mark Jr. accompanied Mart to view RVs in a Winter Garden store. The main "reason" was to check on what was available for the old pop-up in replacement tops, but Mart had an ulterior motive - - - RVs!!! It was raining like never before (A common August event in Florida!) and they ran for the door with beach towels draped over their heads (Commonly found in a Floridian's car!) because the umbrellas were drying in the garage at home (Common for optimistic Floridians that leave the house whe… Continue

Tampa RV Show

We went to the huge RV show in Tampa earlier this year and drooled over all the gorgeous rigs. We especially loved the Georgetown by Forest River that had a fireplace. Being a Floridan without a fireplace, this just seems so romantical.. Getting real, what use is a big ol' fireplace that takes up an entire corner? Mart thought she had to have a washer/dryer, but another reality check: only 2 pairs of Mark's giant 46/36 jeans would make a full load, plus that precious space issue comes up. 6'6" M… Continue

Welcome to RV Bug:)

Being able to retire 10 years earlier may be closer then you think! Keep the home for now and perhaps check out getting a 5th wheel.

For starters, you will have the height your looking for and the price will be half of that of a class A. If you have never checked out the high end luxury models you need to do so. I myself was floored when we check out one not to long ago while camping at Lake Louisa State Park.

OK I know you asking; "Why where you checking out a RV when you where camping?" That's a whole other story that you can check out by clicking this link:

Anyhow, another reason is I know you can get a new tow vehicle for it at a steal of a price. Heck if I only knew that the prices would be where they are today I've would had waited to get my new pull vehicle.

You can check it out with the link below:

Anyhow ... Let's get back to what we we're talking about!

You have a Luxury RV and a Luxury vehicle to explore in and use otherwise. At a price that with what's going on now with fuel cost, should cost you far less for both! Then that of a class A. Another point, when you have a class A your going to want a tow behind for the class A.

Keep your kids happy,
Keep your options open,
And most of all:

ENJOY LIFE AND KEEP RVING!

I read your comments about the RV. I too got sticker shock at the last rv show. I bought my Allegro from an Insurace auction and fixed it up. There is a yard there in Apopka that I go to all the time to pick up stuff I buy. They have a fifth wheel going thru now that is not to bad a shape. In Jacksonville there is a Class A with some small ceiling damage in the bathroom that is going for a song also. So don;t let the sticker shock spoil your plans. Also check out Ebay for good deals also. I have found thru the years its best to get a used unit and make sure that is the type of RV you want before you spend the big bucks. Hope that helps in you being out of a pop up and into a good bed. PS I took the bed out of my rv and put a reguler qween bed in it because of my back and now I have the best sleep even when I;m on the road. Of course I had to fix Little Man his own bed also. I will be so glad when he gets his own RV. Course he thinks this IS HIS RV. Marv

Another motor home suggestion that I can make to you is the Alfa. It also is 7'6" in the interior. Also just like the Tour Master, it also has a washer and dryer. The Tour Master has an all in one washer and dryer, and the Alfa has a stacked washer and dryer.
Your husband, and my significant other share the same problem. They are both over six foot tall. By the way, regarding our age, we are in our middle forties. He is an Electrical Engineer/Computer Programmer, and I am a college student majoring in Web Design/Computer Programming.

If you would like a recommendation, the best thing that I can say is check out the prices of older model class A diesel pushers, say from about 2000-2005 or 6, and see if you can work out a deal with one of the dealerships. The RV dealership that we went through, is Dick Gore's RV World. I believe that they have two or three in Florida. I am going to send you a link to their site. http://www.dickgoresrvworld.com/ Check them out. The brand that I recommend is the Tour Master by Gulf Stream. Depending on how tall your husband is, the Tour Master will probably be your best bet. The interior height is 7'6", and by the looks of your pictures your hubby looks like he might be about 6 ft. Check out the Tour Master. You will be pleasantly surprised.
